A Case of Kaposi's Sarcoma in Transplant Patient

Abstract
Kaposi's sarcoma, a multiple, vascular malignant tumor, can occur in several clinical settings. In each instance, kaposi's sarcoma presents clinically as multiple vascular nodules in the skin and viscera. The importance of the immune status in
evolution
of Kaposi's sarcoma is illustrated in renal transplant patient who are immunosuppressed. We experienced a case of Kaposi's sarcoma whih occured in renal transplant patient. The case was a 53-year-old man who had diagnosed as chronic renal failure
in
1983, and then, he had been on CAPD until April, 1991. In April 1991, he received renal transplantation from unrelated donor. He got triple immunosuppressive regimen, namely cyclosporine, prednisone, azathioprine. The painless in dolant. 1 0.5 cm
sized,
red to pruple papules developed in left hand after 2 months following initiation of immunosuppressive agents. After 8 days new purple colored papule which were centrally ulcerated, 1.5 cm in dimmeter in the third toe of left-foot developed and
progressively widespread to trunk. We performed the biopsy in the hand and the third toe of left foot. It disclosed Kaposi's sarcoma. The Kaposi's sarcoma regressed spontaneously without withdrawal or reducing the dose of immunosuppressive
agents.
